Chef Shawn Tesoro’s culinary passion developed at a very early age. Inspired by watching Iron chef America, Shawn was particularly drawn to the unique flavors of Asian cuisine. Shawn officially began his culinary career at the age of 16. After showing a quick aptitude, he shortly moved up the ranks and was promoted to Kitchen Manager by the age of 18. As an expert on the grill, Shawn spent nearly 3 years with The Keg, responsible for one of their busiest locations, preparing up to 1,000 perfectly grilled steaks a night. Looking to further expand his culinary knowledge, Shawn moved to Toronto to work under his idol, renowned Chef Susur Lee, first as Sous Chef at the critically celebrated Bent, followed by Executive Sous Chef at Susur’s flagship restaurant, Lee. As Executive Sous Chef at one of the city’s most acclaimed restaurants, Shawn created custom menus for many of Toronto’s most notable names, including Drake and The Weeknd.
Shawn now joins the Liberty Entertainment Group, as the Executive Chef of Xango, in the heart of Toronto’s vibrant King West neighborhood. The menu Shawn has created for Xango focuses on Asian and Peruvian cuisines, twisting unique flavours to create a breakthrough restaurant experience that encompasses both authentic dishes and inspired new favorites.
